We have a conference for my son's 16p11.2 deletion syndrome (a rare genetic disorder associated with ASD/ADHD and speech disorders some cognitive disabilities.) There will roughly be 10 or so kids age range 6-12. We are holding it at the Hilton in Anaheim from 10/2-10/4. We have two designated babysitting conference rooms with toys and games and entertainment. I have not been able to secure care for the Thursday 10/2 afternoon conference session: 1PM-6PM. On Friday 10/3 from 8AM to 12:45PM and 2PM to 5:15PM. Would you have caregivers to help? What would be the cost? As far as the needs of the kids, it would be great if they had experience with neuro-atypical children, redirection, calming methods or excitatory methods. One of the rooms will be more for calm and the other for movement and video games and such. There may be crafts and fun activities. CPR and First Aid seem like good basic requirements. In between each half day, the hotel will serve snacks. Monitoring for safe eating and kind interactions should be sufficient.
