Hiring Special Needs Caregiver in Mountain View for Autistic 14 Year Old

Posted by Andrew L. on 6/2/2025

  • $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

We are seeking a Mon.-Fri. (2:15-6:15 pm) part-time caregiver for our severely autistic 14-year-old son (we will also consider candidates who prefer to work a weekend afternoon 2-6 pm shift instead). Our ideal candidate will be kind and energetic and have prior experience caring for autistic children. Pay will be $40-50/hour depending on level of experience with special needs children. Our boy has significant developmental impairment and is mentally closer to a 1-2-year-old. He is non-verbal and not potty trained, so caregiver must be willing to change soiled diapers (we will supply disposable gloves, wipes and a diaper pail). The caregiver will also need to feed him afternoon snacks and prepare a simple dinner (reheating chicken nuggets, hot dogs etc) and administer some easily prepared medications (mixed into his fruit juice). While not frequent, our boy will throw temper tantrums when upset and the caregiver must be able to defend against attempted scratching, biting, pinching etc. All applicants must pass background check.
