My daughter is 28, deaf, and intellectually disabled. She requires full-time care and cannot be left alone. I had a long time caregiver for her who would come one night every other weekend to provide me (mom) with a break for girls night out or a date night. She passed away suddenly about 6 months ago. My daughter was very fond of her and it has been a tough transition. I would like to find someone with who would be interested in filling this role and has experience with special needs individuals.
Though she is 28 years old, she is mentally more like a young child and motorically delayed so she requires full hands on assistance with eating, toileting, dressing, and overall care. She is small around 5'2" and 130 lbs. She has a funny personality once she knows you but can be stubborn. Someone with a compassionate and patient nature and is experienced with autism and sensory disorders is a plus but not required.
