Seeking to hire a PT afternoon caregiver/companion/driver for my 15 year old son with Spina Bifida, ADHD, ASD and other disabilities. He is paralyzed from the hips down and uses a manual wheelchair. He has a daily regimen to flush out his bowels.

Caregiver must be comfortable assisting in transfers, toileting support, showering, and dressing. Other duties include wound care and monitoring for skin breakdown.

We use a transfer board for my son to transfer from his wheelchair to a car. Then we place the 34-pound wheelchair in the back of the car. If your car does not work for the transfers you can use ours.

Hours are typically 2-3 days a week from 3pm-7pm starting with school pickup in Alexandria, driving him home, then overseeing his toileting routine and providing any homework help. Duties can also include meal preparation and household tasks such as folding laundry or feeding our adorable dog. There is some flexibility in days and potential for occasional weekend overnights.
