Our son Theo is a high-energy, curious, and kind 10-year-old. He is autistic (medium support needs) and also has ADHD and generalized anxiety.

Theo has a self-direction budget through OPWDD in Orange County, NY. We are currently seeking both:

Respite care:
Respite is in-home support that gives my husband and me a break.

Community Habilitation (ComHab):
ComHab combines support with working toward specific goals in Theo’s Life Plan, such as:

- Staying safe in the community
- Interacting with peers (in person and online)
- Building daily living skills through practice

Over time, goals and activities will evolve to match Theo’s age, abilities, and maturity.

ComHab shifts may also include accompanying Theo to activities and camps to practice skills in the community in a structured way. We are exploring adding:

- Swimming lessons
- Equine therapy
- Social clubs (e.g., Scouts)

Because some shifts may include picking Theo up from school and going directly to an activity (rather than starting at home), the right candidate will need reliable transportation.

This is a W-2 position, paid through our fiscal intermediary, AIM Services.

Hourly rates for respite and ComHab vary based on New York State guidelines. We’re happy to discuss specifics; in general, ComHab is a more structured, skill-focused role and is eligible for a higher hourly rate.
