Matthew will be 3 in October. He is a very active, fun loving, smart boy! He was born with an abdominal wall defect causing his lungs to be underdeveloped. He has a trach but has been weaned off the vent and is extremely stable. We are working with his doctors to have his trach out within the year. He has an oral aversion which we work on with a feeding therapist and his current nurses. He can eat, he just chooses not to, so he is 100% gtube fed. He is very independent and wears a backpack with his feeding pump when it’s running. While Matthew does have some special needs, his care is very much like caring for your average toddler… lots of playing, running, jumping, reading, outside fun, etc.
