  • Comfortable with pets

I started babysitting in 1992 and have continued to ever since. For a few years I ran an in-home daycare until we moved to Southern Delaware. I have a Bachelor's degree and am halfway through my Master's degree program. I have experience with children from birth on up! I have worked with children who have special needs including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and several other conditions, but I do not possess certification or accreditation for children with disabilities or special needs. That does not mean I wouldn't welcome the opportunity to babysit for any child, I just wanted to be clear on my certifications. I am certified by the Dover Fire School in CPR & First Aid as an instructor and am certified as a First Responder which is the level under an EMT. I am comfortable with ALL types of pets (all shapes and sizes). I enjoy children. I Read more find them interesting, smart and many times hilarious. I try every day to see the beauty of a child's eccentricity, because it is so important to do so. I try to keep the children I babysit entertained with many different activities, depending on their age and learning level. I know keeping children engaged and active is very helpful when it comes time for nap and bed time and I see a greater amount of respect from them when you do so. They are much more willing to adhere to your rules and parameters if you keep things structured and fun. I believe a schedule is a good thing and that children should be treated like intelligent important people who deserve to know what is going on and what is coming next. It helps them with their confidence and self-esteem and allows for more cooperation from them. I follow parent/guardian instructions perfectly and keep notes and will always let you know what went on and take care of anything that is asked of me. I look forward to meeting you and your child/children. Thank you for reading. (Please note I do not automatically increase my rate $1.00 per additional child but they required to put a minimum of $1.00).
