Hi, my name is Jordan Bulger! I am 23 years old. I have been a babysitter since I was 13 years old starting with my cousins. I grew up with the nickname, baby whisperer. At the age of 16 I started working for school-age childcare at the YMCA until the age of 20. During that time I also did the YMCA summer camp two years in a row. Hello there! My name is Kayla, I am 25 years old, and I have been passionate about working with children from a very early age. I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old, and when I became a junior in high school, I enrolled in a two-year Early Childhood Education program at my high school's tech center in Burlington, VT, where I graduated with honors in 2014. During my time in this unique program, I learned all about childhood cognitive development and lesson planning for children ages 3-5, and operated as an assistant teacher in our on-site preschool! This was my absolute favorite part of my high school curriculum, and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to learn and grow as a caregiver. I was a Group Leader (or "pod" leader) first for a group of 6 first graders, and then a group of 4 kindergarteners. I worked in a classroom setting with the larger group, and a home setting with the smaller group. We followed all COVID protocols as I supported them with their virtual learning, facilitated lunch time, lead educational activities, and took them to play at the park as time allowed. Since then I have relocated to the City of Syracuse, where I work full-time in an office setting. I am still eager to find opportunities to work with children and families on a sporadic basis!
