My named is Rachel, I am a mother of 2 adult children and Oma to 1 grandson. I have worked with developmental disable/non-disable children/adults for over 25 years. *18 years as an F/T Asst. Supervisor/Direct Care/Behavioral Specialist. *8 years as a P/T Direct Support Professional for a private residence with 1 1/2 years of rehabilitation/speech for a 2 different young men injured in automobile accidents. *8 years as a P/T/and currently as a sub contractor Community Integration Specialist. In 2011 I retired to take care of my then soon to be grandson who was born with Hypohdrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia. He lived with me and I was his F/T care-provider for 6 1/2 years, also home schooled him pre-k though kindergarten. Last summer he moved away and I have found I have a lot of free time. So in October I started working again and was employed as a P/T nanny for a 4-year-old boy that I had care for occasionally since birth, but in December his grandmother was lucky enough to move closer and now takes care of him. I am a nurturer by nature. I love children, animals, mother nature and being able to maybe make a difference no matter how small.

Hi my name is Melanie I’ve been around little kids my whole life. I am the first child in my family which came with many responsibilities like caring and looking out for my baby cousins (girls/ boys), sisters and our family pets( cats/dogs/ hamsters)! Making sure there was always fun and safe activities ahead of us as well as a good snacks/meals. Now that a lot of my cousins and sisters are older I am very thankful to say that I was a big part of their childhood and was able to teach them so much. I have been a volunteer at my local church for 5 years over the weekends where I am a T.A and work with kids ages 5-11. I have also been an explorer with the Ventura County Sheriffs Department for 6 years now and we work with teenagers ages 13-21. We educate them in law enforcement as well as teaching them responsibility, team work, CPR/ first aid and most importantly how to have fun and make long lasting friends! I was a gymnast for 5 years and a volunteered coach for 2 years where I worked with toddlers over the weekends! This was something very heart warming to me because I was able to share and teach them and their parents a sport I am very passionate about! I have always had a love for kids that’s why one day I hope and pray to have kids of my own!
