I've been caring for children all my life I am the oldest of my mother's children I volunteered throughout high School caring for children at the Durham arts council along in the church talk to children Sunday School, I also taught swim lessons at the YMCA locally and in Charlotte working with age groups from infants to seniors and in between all through high school for over 7 plus years leading into college. I've also worked with children over gymnastics girl scouts and cheerleading. However the most rewarding experience of them all that I have to add to my on going ever increasing FAMILY friendly oriented resume, I'm a mother of three boys ranging from the ages of 2 to 11 years old. Children 3-9 can literally spend enthralled HOURS assembling their own creative layouts then running trains. (While naturally enhancing their spatial intelligence, collaboration skills and 'stick-to-it-ness'...) Other options: a set of colorful wood blocks; tea sets (covert etiquette lessons and cookie baking!); princess and knight costumes for feeling special and dress-up play; Nerfball shooters (with eye protection!). An old-fashioned portable record player with classic vintage story records. Art supplies, an easel, squirt guns and sprinkler... For several years, I worked as a private-duty CNA and in-home Caregiver for elderly and disabled people. This type of upscale agency work requires immaculate background checks, excellent health, clean drug tests, reliability and being on time, as well as cheerfulness, compassion and competence. Now, I'm semi-retired, active and healthy, and LOVE interacting with children. In high school, I babysat for most of the kids in our neighborhood, was a paid Girl Scout Day Camp Counselor with full charge of eight 9 year old girls, had Red Cross Lifesaver Swimming Certification, and taught horseback riding.
