I previously worked as an assistant childcare director prior to my current work in human services. I have completed numerous trainings regarding proper child care, such as strength-based perspectives, trauma informed care, and social and emotional development in early childhood. I have worked with kids of all ages, toddlers to teens, and I have additional experience with babies. Working with those kids allowed me to grow and mature into a compassionate, responsible, patient, and understanding individual. At the age of 16 I started working for school-age childcare at the YMCA until the age of 20. During that time I also did the YMCA summer camp two years in a row. Hello there! My name is Kayla, I am 25 years old, and I have been passionate about working with children from a very early age. I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old, and when I became a junior in high school, I enrolled in a two-year Early Childhood Education program at my high school's tech center in Burlington, VT, where I graduated with honors in 2014. We followed all COVID protocols as I supported them with their virtual learning, facilitated lunch time, lead educational activities, and took them to play at the park as time allowed. Since then I have relocated to the City of Syracuse, where I work full-time in an office setting. I am still eager to find opportunities to work with children and families on a sporadic basis!
