My name is Maddy, I work as a preschool teacher part time, and a nanny part time. I am CPR certified, I can drive and offer transportation, I have multiple childcare classes under my belt, I enjoy working with children and I have a very patient and gentle approach to my job.

I have two younger siblings who are now 8 and 12 years old. I grew up being a reliable babysitter for them for many years. During the pandemic, my siblings could not go to in-person school so I helped them stay on top of reading, writing, and math. I am CRP certified, and I have a certification in safe sleep for Oregon infants. I love to be outside, cooking, cleaning, drawing, and painting.

I babysat as a teenager, but I consider my child care experience not only from being a mom, but my ten years as a very involved Waldorf School parent. Which is a wholistic, art based education with a hands on emphasis. It's a wonderful background to have. I am an articulate, lively, active person who loves to go outside and play. I was the fun mom that everyone wanted to ride with on outings. I love handwork and music and good quality local organic food. I love well behaved pets and I have two horses of my own. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but kids love me because I'm active and I'm interested in a lot of different things. I'm not a super big tv person myself but I don't mind kids having their favorite shows, but on my watch it's not going to just be all tv. On top of that I'm a solid dish washing, floor sweeping, trash taker outer. I like things picked up and no grown ups ever argue with that. I'm currently studying Spanish on the side and I absolutely love sharing that with the little ones who pick it up so quickly. I have a great relationship with my own daughter and excellent references for childcare. I'm happy to answer any questions.

I was born and raised in Louisiana and received my B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of New Orleans. After graduation, I relocated to a rural community in the central Oregon coast range and gave birth to my son. Before my son began Kindergarten, I moved to a nearby town where I purchased and operated a small preschool. During this time, I also facilitated parent education classes at the local women's center. When my son began first grade, we moved to the Corvallis area. I began working as a substitute teacher at the Corvallis Montessori School. I soon began working full-time at CMS in their Primary Extended Care Program and Summer Arts Camp. Realizing my passion for the Montessori Method, I enrolled in the Assistance to Infancy (children birth-three) training at Montessori Institute in Portland. After completion, I returned to the Corvallis area and proposed, planned and implemented the Toddler House program at CMS. Over the next few years as a Montessori Guide, I created a thriving environment for children. Realizing that my true calling is in working together with the families, I now provide support and care to create an optimal home learning environment. I have recently moved to Cottage Grove and I am looking forward to working with families in the area.

More about my experience: I have experience with ages 6 months-12 years. Currently my favorite age group is lower el. I've professionally been working with kids since 2018, but growing up I was the family/neighborhood babysitter! I'm trained in CPR and first aid (including babies), a Montessori assistant, positive discipline, de-escalation, suicide prevention, and much more especially with on the job learning. I've worked in childcare, a classroom, as a full time nanny, a tutor and a lead summer camp director. About me personally: I love to read, create art, play board/ card games, go bowling and spending time with my loved ones. I'm vaccinated with all the boosters.
