Hi! My name is Kayla, and I'm a longtime early childhood educator and new mom looking to connect with a local family seeking a nurturing, Montessori-inspired environment for their little one. I have 10+ years of professional experience working with young children, primarily in the Loudoun County area. Throughout my career, l've served as a Teacher, Assistant Director, Senior Assistant Head of School, and Head of School, with the latter part of my career spent in the Montessori community. I also have several years of private nannying and babysitting experience. Since becoming a mom, l've been looking for a way to combine two things I love: being present with my almost one-year-old daughter while continuing to teach, nurture, and support young children. I would love to find a family whose child could spend their days learning and growing alongside her. We live in the Harpers Ferry/Bakerton area, near Shepherdstown, and have created a beautiful Montessori-inspired space in our home for young children. Our days would follow a calm, nurturing rhythm with Montessori-inspired activities, practical life, art, sensory exploration, books, music, movement, independent play, and plenty of outdoor time. We especially love nature and being outside! I hold a college degree in General Studies and am CPR and MAT certified, with experience caring for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and young children. I'm passionate about respectful caregiving, independence, child-led learning, and creating meaningful connections. I'm primarily seeking a part-time arrangement but am flexible with days and hours. Care would take place in our home, although l'm open to morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off if helpful. Most importantly, I hope to find a family who values a small, loving, home-like environment where their child receives individualized attention, spends lots of time outdoors, and has a little companion to learn and grow alongside. I'd describe my personality as intelligent, introverted and compassionate person to meet. I like working with kids because I use to help out with children activities within the church and the community. I am also, currently helping our nursery in the church. I'm looking for a job that flexible with life balance structures and also very comfortable with a peace of mind by securing safety in well trusted environment. I started working with kids when I started helping out at VBS ( Vacation Bible School). I think, two years ago but also when I was younger in fifth grade. I think, I always had a passion as a younger Self. In my spare time, I like to Nails, Read a Bible, Church, Family, Friends and my Husband. One thing you should know about me is is very compassionate, caring individual. Who is always ensuring safety in well situated environment. I love being a sitter because I genuinely enjoy helping and caring for others. I love kids’ energy, imagination, and seeing the world through their eyes. I enjoy playing board games, doing crafts, baking, cooking, and finding fun ways to keep children happy and entertained. I also take pride in being a helping hand to parents and making their day a little easier. I have experience caring for children from newborns through age 14, including babysitting up to three children at a time. I have volunteered at my local elementary school, helping in classrooms and assisting office staff. My mother is a teacher, so I’ve also spent a lot of time learning from her and helping in her classroom. I would describe myself as patient, caring, nurturing, responsible, and calm. I’m comfortable staying calm in stressful situations and I believe routines are important, especially when it comes to bedtime. I also enjoy cooking and baking and love making a home feel warm, comfortable, and welcoming. I’m happy to help with cleaning up and keeping things organized while the children are in my care. I have experience caring for a child with special needs and behavioral challenges. While every child is different, I’m patient and willing to learn what works best for each child and family. I don’t currently have formal CPR or First Aid certifications, but I have learned CPR and understand basic water-safety practices. I’m also comfortable reading medication labels and following parents’ instructions carefully. I have a valid driver’s license as well. My goal is to be the kind of sitter who feels like a calm, caring big sister—a warm, polite, nurturing presence who treats your children with patience and kindness while giving parents a dependable helping hand.
