Hi there, my name is Lhamo, and I am a nanny with over 25 years of experience caring for children, especially infants and toddlers, with many references available. I currently live in the Woodstock neighborhood, in Portland, OR, and I've raised three kids on my own (ages 25 at NYU Grad School, 19 at the U.S. Naval Academy, and 15 years old at an immersion high school), all of whom I also used to take to work with me, and this ultimately has developed them into the mature and intelligent individuals they are today, teaching all of us important lessons. Over the years, I've worked with over 10 families with a wide variety of different ages, though I'm especially experienced in working with toddlers and infants. When working with kids, I love taking them outside to the park and staying active, providing fun activities for them. Though, my specialty is now more focused in the cognitive development and education of young children, ranging from developing social skills to language learning of languages such as Mandarin Chinese, which I went to university for along with economics. Furthermore, in addition to working with kids, I am able to help with light cleaning, folding laundry. On top of loving to nurture the growth of young children that I work with, and fostering close relationships with the kids, I’ve also found an interest in assisting young and coming parents with learning the necessary parenting skills, helping them by sharing my experiences, creating a more effective and close team between us. All of this has been the most enjoyable part of my journey so far and why I continue doing what I do as a caretaker.

Lhamo has been our nanny for the last 4 years and we love having her. She is very good with both kids and especially good with babies and toddlers. She is very creative in her play with the children, having them use their imaginations. She is very kind and nurturing and the children love her. She focuses on them, playing with them at the park. feeding them healthy snacks and making sure they keep their routines. Lhamo also loves being outdoors and takes the kids outside every day, rain or shine. She helped us immensely over the years, helping us with sleep schedules, creating routines and even potty training. If you are looking for someone trustworthy, I would say Lhamo has met that criteria. We would highly recommend Lhamo for your family.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE SEEKING A BABYSITTER &/or DOG SITTER I cannot recommend Janie Rylander enough for anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, attentive caregiver for their pets or children. I have had the pleasure of working with Janie Rylander on multiple occasions, and she has far exceeded my expectations each time. She was not only punctual and professional but incredibly warm and patient with Silas and Milo, my 11-year-old boy and 14-year-old Border Collie. Trust me, your kids and pets will be well cared for and have tons of fun!

I’m from the East Coast and moved to Portland two years ago and live outside Ladds Edition. I’m an experienced nanny and went to school at Western Kentucky University for special education. I am also an experienced petsitter and was a veterinary technician for five years I absolutely love spending time with kids and watching them grow. I refuse to lose my child like wonder. I am fulfilled when I see that I have had an impact on a child’s life. I grew up in a dysfunctional family. I know what it is like to have been astruggling child, but I’ve used it in a positive light. I think it is an honor and a privilege to interact with a child and be a light in their lives . I love art, crafts, playing outside and being active with the kids! Painting, Gardening, Animals and anything outside

Kristen was absolutely wonderful and intuitive to what our kids and pets alike needed/wanted, during her stay. She was on-time (early), prepared, and even brought some toys for the dogs. During her stay, she instantly won the love and trust of both the kids and pets. Kristen has been the only stranger that our husky has met who was able to immediately earn her trust (dogs know!). Kristen was absolutely phenomenal with our autistic son, and paid him the "extra" attention he needed. My kids now consistently ask us when "Auntie K" is coming over to play with them next. The honest answer: is whenever we require a sitter, moving forward. We will absolutely continue to reach out to Kristen anytime we need a sitter, and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone needing a reliable, respectful, kind, professional sitter!

Hello!! My name is Rostana, I recently graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Public Health and I am currently in nursing school at Linfield getting my Masters. I am hoping to become a pediatric nurse down the road. Caring for kids has always been close to my heart, and my career goals really reflect that. I’m CPR certified, I currently work in a hospital as a CNA where I’ve been for almost five years. Those experiences have taught me responsibility, patience, and how to handle emergencies with a calm head. Outside of school and work, I’ve been babysitting for about eight years. I regularly care for my younger brothers and often babysit for family and friends, so I’m comfortable with kids of all ages. A lot of my experience has also been from the Portland babysitting group in facebook(can provide references to parents from there if needed) I love creating a safe and fun environment where children feel cared for and parents feel confident leaving them in good hands. I also speak 5 languages (Burmese,Hindi,Korean,Malay, English) *looking for one time or occasional roles only Please feel free to message me if you’d like to connect 🤗

Rostana did a great job of watching our kids. They are high energy and always moving and she kept up great and made sure they had everything they needed at all times. Will definitely use her again in the future and recommend her to any families looking for a great sitter.

Rachelle is a knowledgeable, experienced, and fun-loving caregiver for our little ones! We initially hired her for nannyshare one day a week, for my 3 year old and another toddler. I now have two kids (5 and 2) and we use her as a regular babysitter. My kids call those days “Rachelle days” and wait eagerly by the door for her to arrive. Rachelle has endless patience and is always up for whatever game the kids want to play. And with her years and years of experience, my husband and I can truly enjoy our time away, knowing our kids are in excellent hands. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Rachelle for your caregiving needs! ?

Hello! I'm a parent of a teen (just off to college!), a long time school/little league volunteer (my son did Montessori through middle school), a professional tour guide, and started child care work in 2019 being employed by a neighbor for mornings getting her preschooler and kindergartner to school and summer camps. I watched them part-time through pandemic times and virtual schooling and then switched to another family with twins who are now 7yo, also doing the morning 'get them off to school' shift. This leaves me free for the remainder of the day, though I am also a tour guide which becomes more relevant in the tourism season. I enjoy meeting kids on their level and helping them navigate being themselves. I believe in being a full household helper, and try to tidy things during my time in your home. I'm a cat lover and happy to attend to pets as well.

Jill was our temporary nanny for about three months while our primary nanny was on leave, and she was absolutely amazing! From day one, Jill was incredibly reliable, punctual, and a fantastic communicator. She seamlessly took over our daily routine—handling school drop-offs and pick-ups, grocery shopping, and household organization with ease. She genuinely understood that managing household tasks allowed us to spend uninterrupted quality time with our children after work, which made a huge difference for our family. Most importantly, our kids enjoyed their time her. She built solid connections with them. For example, my older son always looked forward to Mondays because they had a routine of playing chess together. Jill is proactive, responsible, and caring. Any family would be lucky to have her!

Pam has been helping us out with our 7yr old daughter multiple times a week for several months. Pam meets our daughter at the bus stop and ensures she gets home safely after school. Pam is always on time, very dependable and trustworthy. Pam knows how to interact with kids and meets them where they are at. We are super thankful for Pam and will continue to have her help us care for our daughter.

Hello! My name is Shannon. I am currently a therapist and former childcare provider of over 10 years looking to fill a little morning time with nanny work. I am currently working later in the day starting at 1pm and would ideally love to find an opportunity 2-4 days a week between 8 or 9am to 12pm. I recently moved to the East Portland/Hawthorne area! Experience I have: -I've been with Sittercity since 2016 sitting and nannying for families throughout the years. -I am a former preschool/daycare teacher with over six years in that environment as a lead infant teacher, lead toddler teacher, and assistant preschool teacher. -Nanny experience additionally outside of Sittercity with families that I am still close with. -Former Early Learning Specialist teaching parents how to teach their young children and pediatric therapist experience that has kept me up to date with childcare and child development best practices. -CPR/First aid trained A little more about me and my approach... -I am a gentle re-director who can both hold boundaries well and also decern when different approaches are needed around meeting a need. -I am a constant teacher (it's just in my spirit after all my time with little ones) so my philosophy is to always be encouraging growth during my time caring for children. - I utilize a trust based relational approach where I build trust through safety while also following through with what needs to get done in a way that meets the child's needs. -With parents I am open to give an advice that is asked so I will not give unsolicited tips, that's only if you wanted to know something. For any work, I ask that pay is same day for non-regular work and work that is regular weekly pay is fine. I'm looking forward to meeting your family and caring for your little one!

We loved Shannon! She did baby-care for us for an event we were having and I was absolutely amazed at her attitude and skill. She and another sitter had three babies they were in charge of and every time we went up to check on them, all three babies were happily asleep. Shannon was always so milling and completely unfazed by anything we asked of her. She is truly talented with little ones and very pleasant to work with. She is also very prompt in her responses. We would absolutely use her again in the future!
