My father is 95 years old and has advanced dementia. He is currently being cared for by my sister and myself. I am looking for someone who can engage with our father for a few hours on Sunday's so as to allow my sister time to shower, grocery shop, prepare dinner or just get away to focus on herself. Our father is able to walk with assistance of a walker (has to be reminded to use it). He enjoys activities such as matching card games or talking about the airplanes he used to fly. He enjoys taking short walks on warm sunny days, sitting in the sunlight and occasionally will attempt to sweep the driveway. My sister will be at the home most of the time so if any issues arise, she is available. The person we select won't have to drive anywhere. Our father can use the restroom but sometimes will have accidents and will need diaper/clean pants put on. Medications are setup by my sister so this person won't be responsible for giving him any medicine. The time needed can vary if afternoons work better. Sundowners for my father is very common in the early evening. Our basic need at this time is for companion relief on Sunday's to help my sister.
