Hi! I'm a 25 year old artist, student, and experienced child care provider. I have spent 10+ years working with families as their sitter/nanny, in overnight camps, in day camps, and with after school programs. Working with kids and giving the next generation a sturdy, supportive foundation is one of my passions and greatest joys. Families looking for a nanny or sitter who have LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent members will have priority with me because I have lived experience in these areas and can empathetically relate. I know it can be hard for these families to find child care providers, and all kids deserve excellent caretakers. I also identify as nonbinary and have ADHD & ASD (think Amelia Bedelia-- she was a hard worker but just needed clear communication)! I prefer meeting families and doing a working interview before agreeing to any long-term arrangement! Thank you for your time, and I hope you're having a great day. UPDATE 2/17/26: Currently looking for an occasional (1-2x/month) babysitting arrangement in NE Portland, ideally near the King neighborhood. Have you been wanting a dedicated regular date night with your partner? Let's chat!

Excellent experience working with Risa! Our 10 year old really enjoyed working on bead crafts and hanging out. We will definitely be using them again in the future.

I started sitting over 20 years ago for children and pets. My experience with children ranges from daycare settings to occasional date nights to full time nanny work. My specialty is with infants and toddlers but I enjoy helping out with the older kiddos too. *Happy to help with homework, dishes, cooking, and laundry. I use sign language and can count up to ten in three languages. Familiar with all diapers, bottles, Disney characters, Transformers and MOST Superheros. I always have stickers and usually have bubbles. Prefer to be outside exploring rather than inside but balance is good too. Originally from the Midwest and have been loving Portland for 10 years. Before moving here, I worked as a Certified Medical Assistant and helped take care of a few elderly patients on the side. As well as being the oldest of six, I have always loved taking care of children, the elderly and pets. I have a daughter who will be 2 in September. She loves to play!

We hired Cherin as our nanny in a shared care situation with two other families. She has watched our infant daughter (3 mos old), as well as our 3 yo daughter (for a date-night), in addition to the other families' infants - two 5 month old boys. While it's only been a couple of weeks, she has proven to be incredibly reliable, and attentive to the needs of each individual in her care no matter what their age. She has shown persistence and good humor in helping to get my infant girl used to the bottle, and has remained calm in some challenging situations, like handling multiple infants at once. She is competent and efficient, and at the same time very low-maintenance (helpful since I work our of a home office). My 3 yo daughter is normally shy around new grown-ups, but she was immediately at ease with Cherin, and after having met her a few times, was excited to have her babysit for her. I'm so relieved to have found someone we can trust!

17 years of safe, engaging, skill building fun facilitation; supplemented with homework help, tutoring, and academic support... While attending university, I began facilitating recreation therapy respite for families adjusted by developmental differences. I also continued with the YMCA, YWCA and local youth bureau; all while also living and serving with the local volunteer fire department. Upon graduation I accepted a couple roles as Program Director, but soon realized that front line work was my truest passion. Since my work as a Family Advocate, Wilderness Therapy Guide, Kids Ski Instructor, "Manny" (Nanny), Firefighter, Alpine Manager, Mountain Bike Coach, Lifeguard, and Summer Camp Director for multiple camps, I have gained and honed a diverse skill set. My experience provides families with a compassionate, professional, fun loving, supportive, flexible, and nurturing care giver. Whether you need a one time “babysitter” or a commitment over an extended period of time, I feel confident that I can provide the stimulating and/or structured environment, balanced and tailored for your little people to thrive. Philosophically, I believe in and promote autonomy and democracy; encouraging choice, individuality, compromise, and teamwork. Ex: I do not believe in asking one to apologize, but rather explaining to them the relational benefits of such actions, and providing them the opportunity. Currently, I spend a lot of time in the mountains, tackling personal objectives; so though my location may be elsewhere, I may be looking to work in an area close to your childcare needs.

David was an amazing temporary nanny for our family and a tremendous help while we searched for a full-time caregiver. He cared for our two children (ages 4 and 1.5) with so much patience and attentiveness, ensuring they felt safe, engaged, and happy. Not only did he include plenty of outdoor time for the kids to explore and play, but he also went above and beyond by doing science experiments and other educational activities with our older son. It was wonderful to see how much our son enjoyed science experiments with David! David was incredibly reliable, always arriving on time and keeping us updated throughout the day with pictures and notes. His calm demeanor, respectful attitude, and genuine connection with our children made him an excellent fit during this transitional time. We’re so grateful for the care and creativity he brought to our family and would highly recommend him to anyone and would gladly hire him again whenever he is in the Buffalo area.

Hello!! My name is Rostana, I recently graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Public Health and I am currently in nursing school at Linfield getting my Masters. I am hoping to become a pediatric nurse down the road. Caring for kids has always been close to my heart, and my career goals really reflect that. I’m CPR certified, I currently work in a hospital as a CNA where I’ve been for almost five years. Those experiences have taught me responsibility, patience, and how to handle emergencies with a calm head. Outside of school and work, I’ve been babysitting for about eight years. I regularly care for my younger brothers and often babysit for family and friends, so I’m comfortable with kids of all ages. A lot of my experience has also been from the Portland babysitting group in facebook(can provide references to parents from there if needed) I love creating a safe and fun environment where children feel cared for and parents feel confident leaving them in good hands. I also speak 5 languages (Burmese,Hindi,Korean,Malay, English) *looking for one time or occasional roles only Please feel free to message me if you’d like to connect 🤗

We couldn’t be more pleased with Nomonde and her outstanding service. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that she had a natural affinity for children. Our kids instantly warmed up to her, and her engaging and nurturing personality made us feel at ease. She was incredibly professional, punctual, and reliable. Nomonde not only followed all our instructions to the letter but also brought a variety of fun and educational activities that kept our children entertained and happy. Her communication was excellent; she kept us informed with updates throughout the evening whenever we weren’t home, which gave us great peace of mind. We highly recommend Nomonde to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and enthusiastic babysitter. They truly exceeded our expectations.

Greetings, I grew up with a mother (4 kids in my family) who was the neighborhood sitter and when I was 11, I started sitting also. I sat for many families while in JH & HS. After high school, while I attended Hotel-Restaurant Management School in Seattle, I worked as a live-in nanny for a prominent Seattle family with 4 children. (the eldest is now the CEO of the family company) I worked for over 5 years for a family in Redwood City, for date nights and 3-5 days overnight business trips. I have two children of my own. I have worked through SitteCity for over 15 years. One of the jobs was for a prominent Silicon Valley family with a 3.5 month old baby, for 72 hours straight when the family was between nannies. I am reliable and trustworthy, a good cook and I am happy to do light housework, laundry and errands. Active and fit, and experienced with all ages. Having kids at 41 and 44 helps keep you young. (My daughter just turned 27, oh my) I moved back to PDX from SF Bay area about 8 years. I lived in PDX for 12 years, & 30 years in California. Looking forward to hearing from you about your sitting needs. Sincerely, Melodie Rose
