We are looking for a patient, dependable, compassionate, attentive, and trustworthy caregiver to provide support for our teenage son who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is minimally verbal/nonverbal, and has Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).

Responsibilities may include:
* Providing supervision, companionship, and a safe environment
* Assisting with daily routines and personal needs as necessary
* Engaging him in activities he enjoys
* Preparing or assisting with meals and snacks
* Following his established Type 1 Diabetes care plan
* Being attentive to signs of high or low blood sugar
* Monitoring diabetes-related needs as instructed by his parents
* Responding appropriately to a diabetic low/high or emergency according to his care plan
* Accompanying him on outings or activities when needed
* Maintaining close communication with parents regarding his care

Our ideal caregiver is someone who is:
* Patient, nurturing, responsible, and extremely attentive
* Comfortable caring for a minimally verbal/nonverbal teenager
* Experienced with autism, developmental disabilities, or special needs
* Comfortable caring for someone with Type 1 Diabetes
* Willing and able to learn his specific diabetes routine and emergency procedures
* CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified
* Dependable and punctual
* Able to follow established routines and detailed parent instructions
* A good communicator

Above everything else, we are looking for someone who will treat our son with love, patience, dignity, kindness, and respect and become someone he can feel comfortable, happy, and safe with.
