During my time at school, I took childhood development classes and was certified for CPR and first aid. I have a perfect driving record! I have no tickets/warnings, and never been in a wreck. I grew up as the oldest child in a family of 6 kids (3 biological, including myself, and 3 adopted from international countries), so I have been interacting with and caring for children for as long as I can remember. I've babysat younger cousins and neighbors' kids since I was 14, and I love being around kids of all ages! I also have experience taking care of up to 6 toddlers at once, as I have worked as a caregiver during my church's women's Bible study on Wednesday mornings. I am currently in grad school for Speech-Language Pathology, so I have a lot of experience with kids that have diverse communication needs and health conditions. I worked as an Elementary Spanish and history teacher during my gap year before grad school, and I love teaching and cultivating excitement for learning. I am a good cook, am happy to run errands, help with homework, mend clothing, do laundry, clean household spaces, care for pets, or any other household task that might be helpful! I do have a severe tree nut allergy, so I cannot handle tree nuts and prefer to eat food that I prepare myself. I am happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions and/or allergies that kiddos might have! Personality-wise, I am very bubbly and optimistic, creative, artistic, and am an old soul. I am quick to laugh, and am calm and steady during moments of upset. I am very growth-mindset oriented and love learning new things! I am also musical, and I play the fiddle, guitar, banjo and a little bit of piano.

Most recently, in my career work I was an Aquatic Educator and ran an afterschool fishing club for kids in grades 3-8 and had been teaching families with children ages 5 & up how to fish. I was a certified teacher and have a Master's Degree in Education. I taught in public schools and private schools and then started the education programs at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education for preK & up where I continued to work with outdoor education for kids until the flood in 2021. I have experience babysitting siblings, keeping them safe and engaged in activities, preparing snacks/meals, putting them down for nap/bed. I have done after school pick ups as well as driven kids to activities. I am good with pets. I have had background checks and been fingerprinted in previous employment. I am 1st Aid and CPR certified. I have also raised my own child. I have experience with all ages from newborns, toddlers, elementary and middle schoolers. I am currently sitting 4 mornings a week 8-1pm (MWFSat) for a family that has a 2 & 3 yr old. They are screen free and we spend most of our day outside. Their research is still going and updates are applied as they learn more about the development of young children. Childcare also teaches you all about keeping children safe. Background checks, safety drills, food safety, playground safety, (teaching them about strangers, knowing a parents phone number and their address, if old enough). So I’ve got that covered for a family’s peace of mind.
