I'm a retired science teacher/outdoor educator with 30 years experience working with children. Most recently, in my career work I was an Aquatic Educator and ran an afterschool fishing club for kids in grades 3-8 and had been teaching families with children ages 5 & up how to fish. I was a certified teacher and have a Master's Degree in Education. I taught in public schools and private schools and then started the education programs at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education for preK & up where I continued to work with outdoor education for kids until the flood in 2021. I have experience babysitting siblings, keeping them safe and engaged in activities, preparing snacks/meals, putting them down for nap/bed. I have done after school pick ups as well as driven kids to activities. I am good with pets. I have had background checks and been fingerprinted in previous employment. I am 1st Aid and CPR certified. I have also raised my own child. I have experience with all ages from newborns, toddlers, elementary and middle schoolers. I am currently sitting 4 mornings a week 8-1pm (MWFSat) for a family that has a 2 & 3 yr old. They are screen free and we spend most of our day outside. I have been with them over 1.5 years and unfortunately they are moving out of town. I would love to find a new family to help.

It’s a questionnaire that was developed by doctors and researchers for caregivers and parents use to assess various ages of development (2 mos-60 mos) to understand and monitor the various ages of development which are: Communication, Gross & Fine Motor, Problem-solving abilities & Personal & Social skills. Their research is still going and updates are applied as they learn more about the development of young children. Childcare also teaches you all about keeping children safe. Background checks, safety drills, food safety, playground safety, (teaching them about strangers, knowing a parents phone number and their address, if old enough). So I’ve got that covered for a family’s peace of mind. I would consider it a privilege to be entrusted with assisting in the day to day care and nurture of your child/children/& animals (as I also raised AKC Golden retrievers for many years).
